Audi A7 is due Q3 2009 / Audi A7 Cabriolet Q4 2009

The Audi A7 Sportback, as shown  at the recent Detroit Motor Show, is Audis entry into the Mercedes CLS and BMW’s forthcoming 8-series segemnt of the market. The Audi A7 Sportback is typically Audi in its hard-edged, styling which is similar to the Audi A5. Car fans will note the hints of Jaguar in the rear window line.

The Audi A7 Sportback was shown fitted with a version of the 3-litre TDI V6 diesel engine seen in other Audis. Upgraded with enhanced ‘DeNox’ catalytic converters and featuring AdBlue injection to reduce emissions further, the engine complies with the strict US emision standards. The engine produces 225hp, enabling the car to accelerate from 0 to 62mph in 7 seconds and reach a top speed of 152mph. While this is certainly impressive, these days the 39.9mpg and 156g/km CO2 are probably of as much interest.
