We mentioned last month that Audi are doing a Trans-America demonstration for the fuel efficiency of TDI diesels – so far, the Audi Mileage Marathon is halfway through the United States. In total over 2,800 miles have been covered and Audi’s TDI Vehicles are revealing some impressive numbers regarding fuel efficiency.
2,000 miles into this cross country marathon, the Audi A3 TDI has the best mpg average so far, averaging 46mpg over the entire drive, in second is the Audi A4 TDI with 39mpg, the Audi Q5 is third with 33mpg and the not yet released in America, the Audi Q7 TDI is in fourth place averaging 28mpg, impressive numbers for an SUV of its size and weight.
The Audi Mileage Marathon is been sanctioned by IMSA officials, they are present at the refuelling, signing and sealing the fuel filler doors, it is also them who determine the winners of each leg, after analyzing the vehicles data collected every 24 hours.
The winner of each leg is the vehicle that achieves the best averages regarding fuel economy, speed and distance.
