Besides the fact that Audi is one of the leading car manufacturers in the premium sector, Audi is very famous for developing vehicles way ahead of its time. Audi concept cars always generate a huge buzz within the Auto Industry, because people know is only a matter of time before they hit the roads, hence the Audi R8 Le Mans Quattro Concept, the Metroproject that will soon become the Audi A1, and Audi e-tron concept expected to top the range of a possible Audi R4, just to name a few.

Last week, Audi presented two vehicle design concepts for the future, more precisely to the year 2030, the Audi eSpira and Audi eOra.

Audi eSpira – The Aspiration

Audi eSpira

Audi in its most uncompromised form; the eSpira functions as an extension of your body and the senses An ultimate technological tour-de-force with an image to stir every kids imagination.. Using next generation vehicle control logic, the eSpira takes even the smallest body movements and gestures of the driver into consideration to provide an unsurpassed command of the drive. The most direct, fluid form of vehicle control is only thoughts away.

Audi eOra – The Essence

Audi eOra

Audi presents a sports vehicle to share the same control logic as the eSpira, yet an accessible representation of freedom and coming of age for the young (and young at heart). Extremely dynamic and efficient, the Audi eOra has a small footprint and unmatched agility. Like a downhill skier, the eOra carves the roadscape with precision. By constantly adapting to the drivers movements and intentions, the eOra and its driver move harmoniously as one with unrivalled dexterity.

Audi will be using both designs to compete in the L.A Auto Show Design challenge, this year’s theme is Youthmobile 2030, where teams had to design a vehicle aimed for the next generation of drivers.

Another concept vehicle that could very well enter the L.A Auto Show Design Challenge is the Audi Avatar from designer Edwin Conan. A futurist supercar also aimed for the 2030’s, the Avatar concept connects Audis past by getting inspiration from the 1937 Auto Union Type C streamliner, and also incorporates the tech and power required for a supercar of the future.

Audi Avatar

Powered by a long range supercharge-ion battery propelling four in-wheel motors, the three-seat supercar could go from a standing start to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds, all the way to a top speed of 360 km/h. The concepts ultra light aerodynamic body gets inspiration from fabric blown in the wind, along with the Type C streamliner influence.

Shame we will have to wait till 2030 to see Audis babies on the road and unfortunately some of us might not even be around to drive them.

We want to hear your opinion about Audi Concept Cars of the Future. Is Audi heading in the right direction with its Concept Cars?
